The UAE has been a member of the OPCW Executive Board for the period 2020-2022, becoming the delegate of the Asian member states of the OPCW. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, in coordination with its accredited missions abroad, made efforts to support the state nomination file. In September, the UAE Embassy in The Hague organized workshops to promote the file, in cooperation with Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) and the Executive Committee Goods and materials subject to import and export control, Rabdan Academy, chemical defense and the National Emergency and Crisis Authority.
The Council consists of nine members from Africa, nine from Asia, five from Eastern Europe, seven from Latin America and the Caribbean, ten from Western Europe and other States and one member appointed periodically from Asia and another from Latin America and the Caribbean.
