Workshop on "Countering Radiological and Nuclear threats" -IW CBRNe 2018

 

Dear colleague,

We are glad to announce that the Workshop on "Countering Radiological and Nuclear threats" will be held next 8th of November 2018 , the venue is the "Istituto Superiore Antincendi" in Via del Commercio 13, 00154 Roma (Italy).

This is the fourth edition of the IW CBRNe workshop organized by the International Master courses in Protection against CBRNe events. More than 250 participants, coming from Universities and Research Centers, Public Entities, Military Entities and Industries, attended the last edition.
The workshop is organized in collaboration with the "Istituto Superiore Antincendi", the Sievert Academy, HESAR and INAC.

The aim of this workshop is to give a detailed overview of the current CBRNe risk scenarios, focusing on the following main topics:
- Radiological and Nuclear risk
- Radiological and Nuclear unplanned events;
- Radioprotection
- R/N Medical Applications
- Security of Radioactive Material
- Nanotechnologies and Nanomaterials for R&N Safety & Security
- Detection and Identification Methods and Techniques
- Radio-prevention, Modeling and Simulation, Diffusion and Dispersion of Radiological Agents;
- Cybersecurity in the R&N field

The Scientific Coordinator of the workshop is Francesco d' Errico, Professor of Nuclear and Biomedical Engineering and Medical Physics. He is the research team leader of numerous projects on advanced methods for radiation detection, dosimetry and imaging, and image-guided radiological procedures. All these projects are supported by Italian, European and US agencies. He served as Editor in Chief of the journal Radiation Measurements and actually he is the Director of the Advanced Radiation Protection School "C. Polvani".

The workshop will include oral and poster sessions. All presentations will be published as part of the "CBRNe book series" with an ISBN code and officially recognized by the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research (classification code: E237557).
A scientific committee will select the 3 best papers and their authors will be invited to prepare a full paper for publication in a scientific journal indexed on SCOPUS.

The abstract submission deadline has been extended to  20th September 2018.
